Are you tired of having an unsightly garage floor, one with stains and discoloration – if so, then perhaps garage flooring paint would help with a transformation? While you could purchase any number of flooring materials for your garage, you need to remember that most of these are expensive. For instance, garage tile made from rubber or vinyl works well but you pay for it. Instead, garage flooring paint is a great solution that can make the floor look better without costing a fortune.
If you have a concrete surface, you could use an epoxy paint that will help keep the floor free from stains and/or discoloration. With many vibrant colors such as red, blue, and green, along with black, you can turn your ordinary garage into showroom quality. In fact, garage flooring paint does more than just improve the appearance of your garage it will actually create a seal of protection to reduce the need for expensive floor repair due to spilled chemicals, dropped tools, or just everyday wear and tear. Because garage flooring paints produce harmful fumes, it is imperative that you make sure the space is ventilated. In addition, you want to protect your eyes with goggles, wear protective gloves, and wear old, long sleeves and pants to cover the skin. It is also important that prior to using garage flooring paint, you have the surface of the garage prepared. This means filling any cracks and sweeping up loose dirt and debris. Then, for the best result when using garage flooring paint, the garage should be somewhere between 50 and 90 degrees. In other words, while it might be 20 degrees outside, seeming like the perfect day for this type of project, the inside temperature would need to be at least 50 degrees. Considering you would have windows and/or the door open for ventilation, this would obviously become a challenge. The garage floor should also be void of any stains. For this, you could use a bucket, mixing a three-to-one water to bleach mixture. Again, wear protective eyewear and gloves. Then, simply spray the stains with the substance, allowing it to set for about five to ten minutes, depending on the intensity of the stain. Next, use a stiff-bristled brush to scrub the stain until it disappears. Once gone, the area should be cleaned with clean water. Prior to using garage flooring paint, the floor would also need to dry 100%. You will also find that to help the garage flooring paint adhere better, the concrete floor should not be smooth. Therefore, you may need to slightly, etch the surface, which can be done by applying a commercial etcher product. In this case, the surface would be roughed up, allowing the paint to absorb better. To determine if your garage floor needs to be etched, check the surface by sprinkling on a little bit of water. If the water absorbs quickly, then the floor is fine, as is but if not, etching would be required. With that, the garage flooring paint would get down into the pores, providing a much better look and more effective seal. |
