While many of us associate concrete with external areas such as parking lots and kids play grounds, there are many indoor concrete areas where you can benefit a lot from concrete floor coverings. There are a number of reasons why it is a good idea to look into the possibility of using concrete floor covering areas when you are looking at an internal concrete area. The main reason is that you are more likely to be using indoor areas more often. Your kids and family will be using the area also, if it is part of your home, and if you are dealing with a more industrial context then it will be your workers and colleagues who will be using the indoor concrete area more often.
Safety is a big issue when it comes to concrete floor covering and you should always remember that while cars and a lot of other vehicles are usually what you would find on concrete surfaces when they are out doors, internal spaces are going to be used by people walking around. Therefore, it is important that the surface remains clean, and as dry as possible. You do not want people slipping on your floor covering and therefore, many of the concrete floor coverings that are available come in non stick versions which are designed specifically with this consideration in mind. Concrete floor covering is also a much more viable option for indoor concrete areas because they are not exposed to as harsh weather conditions. While a lot of rain would be expected to fall on external concrete areas, you will find that concrete floors will not work as well and are likely to come loose and need frequent replacing. At the same time, you will also find that when you use the same products in doors, they work a lot better and do not come loose or need replacing nearly as often. The type of concrete floor covering that you decide to use for your concrete area will depend to a large extent on the use you make of your indoor concrete area. If you do a lot of mechanical work in your garage for example, then probably one of the concerns you will have is that oil is staining the concrete and is virtually impossible to clean. If you get a good epoxy floor covering, then you can make your concrete quite oil proof and it will even be possible to wash the oil off of the surface. At the same time, if you park cars or other vehicles in your garage then you will probably be looking for a surface that you can drive your car on and that will also not be too slippery to brake effectively on.
